Scott was raised in Yankton, SD and started his golfing career at Hillcrest when he was 12 years old, playing, practicing, and working in the bagroom and pro shop through high school. After graduating from YHS in 1987 he went to Butler County Community College in El Dorado, KS. He was the conference champion his freshman year. Scott graduated with an Associates Degree in Business Administration. After Butler County he was an Assistant at the now Country Cub of Sioux Falls for 3 years under head professional John Anderson. Scott went to school at nights at Huron University and received a Bachelors of Business Administration degree. He worked at Des Moines Golf and Country Club for J. D. Turner as an assistant professional. He started his head professional experience at a 9 hole country club in Knoxville, IA. He went to work at Prairie View in Worthington, MN for 5 years. Scott had the opportunity to buy the 8th St. Pub in Yankton and was the General Manager/Owner of the Pub. After selling the Pub he was the Head Golf Professional at Fox Run for 12 years. He then went to work as the General Manager of the destination club, Sutton Bay. Scott, his wife Jennifer, and daughters Mackenzie, who is a 5th grade school teacher in Mitchell and has a baby boy Brooks, and Olivia, who works at a dental office in Sioux Falls and has a baby girl Suttyn.  Scott enjoys vacationing with his family to Florida and taking members on golf trips.
